Creative duo Tomas & Liza teamed up with artist ROSA to create the music video for his song BLOW. This Era delivered the edit and additional 16mm black and white cinematography to amplify the darker subtexts in the song.
The music video revolves around addiction, accompanied by a literal portrayal of the subject matter in the lyrics. The video’s concept aimed to symbolically depict the artist’s internal struggle.
Filmed using a RED Gemini, Kinefinity Mavo LF, and 16mm black-and-white film, the music video employed mixed ratios and media. The audience can observe anamorphic visuals in a 2.39:1 ratio, as well as 16:9 and 4:3 ratios for the black-and-white scenes and the parfocal crash zoom shots (captured using the Canon 18-80 zoom lens and pro mist filter).
The RED Gemini was selected for its 18mm high sensor, making it suitable for anamorphic and 4:3 images with additional vertical space in the sensor. The shots demanded extensive dynamic range due to high contrasts. De Grot grading studio was tasked with implementing a color palette based on Kodak 5219.
